What is the Dow Jones Industrial Average?
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is a stock index comprised of
30 of the largest
blue chip companies in the United States.

It is also referred to as The Dow, the Dow Jones, the Dow 30 or
DJIA.

The stocks comprising the index represent a wide range of
industries such as financial services, retail, entertainment,
consumer goods, basic materials, health care and manufacturing.

DJIA is considered a benchmark for the entire stock market and is
one of the oldest continuous US stock market indexes.
