What is the NASDAQ 100?
NASDAQ 100:
A stock index comprised of 100 of the largest companies listed on the NASDAQ
Stock Exchange. It does not include financial companies. It does include foreign
companies.

It is a modified
market cap weighted index and is therefore, more heavily
influenced by its large cap stocks.

Our site provides a graph of the NASDAQ 100 Index all the way back to the year
1971.

The largest 10 components by market capitalization on September, 5, 2008
were Apple, Cisco, Gilead Sciences, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle,
Qualcomm, Research In Motion and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. These
stocks represented nearly 50% of the value of the index and are dominated by
companies in the technology industry.
